An event this Thursday will help anyone not yet registered to vote prepare and file their paperwork, in an effort to increase citizen participation in the upcoming City Election. My campaign will hold a “Last Call for Voter Registration” from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 5 at the Coffee Grounds, 423 Wabash Avenue. Please stop by.
Volunteers will help voters fill out registration paperwork, explain district and precinct boundaries, pass out sample ballots, and identify polling places for the May 8th City Election. The deadline to get registered is this coming Monday, April 9th.
I encourage anyone with questions about the May 8th Primary Election to come to the event, whether you live in the 4th District or not. Indiana law presents voters with some significant barriers that keep many people from participating in elections. The requirement to be registered at least 29 days prior to casting your first ballot is the first hurdle, and my campaign will try to help citizens get past it smoothly.
I hope to see you at the Coffee Grounds Thursday. Even if you are already registered to vote, stop by for a sample ballot and a visit.
