........................................................................ PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Todd Nation Declares Candidacy for Newly-Drawn City Council District 4 Terre Haute bookseller and entrepreneur Todd Nation entered the Democratic Primary Election race for City Council District 4 today. A longtime advocate of downtown revitalization and smart growth, Nation stated that his many years of working with local government have prepared him well for the office he seeks: "Running for this seat is a natural progression for me, and I hope District 4 voters will give me the chance to work for them from within our City Council. As an involved citizen, I have worked closely with three councils and three mayors over the last decade. I'm ready to use that experience to help move our community forward." When our current City Council passed state-mandated redistricting plans last October, District 4 became Terre Haute's most populous City Council district. It stretches south from Buckeye Street through the Avenues, Indiana State University, Downtown and Farrington's Grove. District 4 picked up precinct 2-C, at the northeastern corner of Farrington's Grove, so now that whole neighborhood will be represented by one council member. Of the redistricting, Nation says: "I hope all voters are supplied with timely information about how their council districts have changed well before election day in May. As the Primary Election draws near, it will be important for voters to know which candidates they will have to choose from when they enter the voting booth." Nation will face incumbent candidate Philip "Mick" Love in the May 6 Democratic Primary. The winner of that race will run against Republican Mark May in November's General Election. |
